Outside of the lab and research, I have been involved in many leadership roles at the school and university level. I love giving back to my community and building relationships outside of academia.
The Health Sciences Graduate Student Organization (GSO) helps connect the graduate student community within the School of Health Sciences. We are here to promote social activities that facilitate communication between graduate students, serve as an official liaison between students and faculty, and advocate for the graduate student’s interest in the School of Health Sciences.
I was a member of the HSCI GSO for 3 years where I held the positions of treasurer (2021), vice president (2022), and president (2023).
Our biggest event is the Annual Graduate Student Research Retreat held in the spring. We design a program tailored to highlight our department's graduate students research in Toxicology, Environmental and Occupational Health, Health Physics, and Medical Physics.
The Purdue Association for Magnetic Resonance (PAMR) was founded in 2017 by graduate students passionate about magnetic resonance (MR) techniques. PAMR unites students, staff, and faculty interested in MR techniques such as NMR and MR/MRS. The association offers a platform for both professional and social development, embracing diversity and inclusivity. I have been a member since 2021 in various roles as treasurer and vice-president, but mainly I've been in charge of the money 💲💲💲. We have collaborated with multiple organizations, and their leadership comprises graduate students, with an emphasis on fostering leadership. PAMR activities, mostly social, aim at connecting new students with senior ones, facilitating discussions on student life, career, and work-life balance.
We support student travel to conferences (ISMRM, OHBM) via travel grants or poster competitions as part of a MRI Spring Symposium.
The Medical Physics Club of Purdue (MPCP) started as an unofficial journal club, but due to the increased interest and involvement, we officially registered the club as a Purdue organization in summer of 2022.
The purpose of the MPCP is to:
bring students (graduate and undergraduate), staff, faculty, and alumni who are majoring, and/or working, and/or interested in medical physics together.
promote academic, professional, and social communication amongst the members
prepare the members with soft and hard skills necessary for their future career.
